Private Street Towing

Dear Kingstree Residents,

As a reminder, there is NO PARKING on private streets in Kingstree. This includes the pool parking lot – including the “alley” near the pool parking lot that dead ends at the back of the parking lot. Parking at the pool parking lot is only allowed when the pool is open or when pool parking pass from the Board has been received. Parking on the grass, including the grassy area at the end of the cul‐de‐sac, is prohibited. Vehicles parked on the grass at the end of the cul‐de‐sac are subject to fines, tickets and towing. Parking on the grass in front of the homes are subject to fines.

If you lease your home or have guests, it is your responsibility to ensure the renters and guests are aware of everything in this letter as their vehicles are subject to the same restrictions.

The developer determined the private streets and common areas that the Association would be required to maintain. Parking on private streets has always been prohibited. All private streets have signs to make it abundantly clear that parking is not allowed and subject to towing regardless if the sign has been removed by a resident. The legal documents state that the Board has a duty to maintain the rules for the private streets and common areas.

Over the past several years, the board has received several complaints from homeowners about parking on private streets. The private streets are extremely narrow and are not suitable for street parking. Some of the complaints the board has received are: (A) Difficulty getting in/out of their own driveway (B) Trash service delayed or missed because cannot safely drive up or down the street (C) Concern about emergency services possibly delayed because vehicles can’t safely drive up or down the street. (Note: The concern about the emergency services happened and the emergency personal were banging on doors asking people to move cars so they could get the truck down the street).

If you own multiple cars that cannot fit in your garage or driveway, you should park on the public street closest to your property, this applies to your guests as well. We do not tow on public streets, the city may tow, but the Association does not.

The tow company will continue to monitor the private streets for parked cars. Vehicles parked on the street could be towed or booted. Vendor trucks parked on a private street for repairs in a private residence will not be towed if the vehicle is clearly marked as a vendor. The tow company is also aware that during mow season private landscape vendors will be in the community for services.

The Association has agreed to allow residents and non‐residents use the pool parking lot as overflow parking, when needed. A parking pass from the Association is required to park at the pool parking lot to avoid being towed or booted.

The Association does not have any authority to tow off a public street. If you have issues with a vehicle parked on a public street you should contact 311 or 911 to report the issue.

His & Hers Towing has been authorized to tow or boot cars parked on private streets in the community and the pool parking lot. Their phone number is (980)-400-4001. Each owner wanting to report a violation to the tow company can call them for the vehicle to be towed. Information about the towing company and authorized tow fees is listed on the signs posted at entrances and other locations throughout the community. The cost for towing is $400 and up to $1500 (plus $35 per day if not picked up the same day as the vehicle is towed). The Association WILL NOT cover any towing fees under any circumstances.
